ASK not what a book about failed Presidents is doing with a title like Star-Spangled Men. Did the author mean "star-crossed"? We shall never know. It's as big a mystery as the true story of James Buchanan's broken engagement written by the bachelor Buchanan and sealed for posterity until he changed his mind and ordered it destroyed on his death.
