Relax, there's no mistake in the title. I've indulged a bit of British-English that I've always found intriguing: the use of the plural verb with collective nouns (as in "Oxford have won the themes regatta").
The selection of verb sense is purposeful and captures one of the main themes of the article: I want to consider intelligence as a collective noun. I want to see what we in Al have thought of it and review the multiple ways in which we've conceived of it. My intention is to make explicit the assumptions, metaphors, and models that underlie our multiple conceptions.
