FACED by two flatpacks, one small and one large. Thus started my time as a do-it-yourself idiot attempting to build an IKEA wardrobe. Since I've never done DIY in my life, the Mail asked me to see if IKEA's flatpacks are idiot-proof. I now know they're not.
I start by unwrapping the stuff in my hall. It isn't easy. The wood, or chipboard, in the larger pack is almost too heavy to lift.
I solicit aid from my lovely fiancee Geraldine Lynton-Edwards and my assistant Dinah May.
After exposing the whiteveneered whatever, we find two plastic containers of screws and other odd things and an instruction book headed ...
