In 1771, the snow was up to people's waists on some of the streets of Boston. Sometimes the walking was so slippery and the air so cold that 12-year-old Anna Winslow wasn't allowed to go to school. She had come to Boston to board with her aunt and be a student. Her family was still in Nova Scotia where her father was working for the British Army.
