The First Night of The Proms normally features a big work, but not this year. Instead we were presented with a dog's breakfast of seven unrelated pieces, starting with Stravinsky's damp squib Fireworks and finishing with Bruckner's superficially ecstatic but actually rather leaden-footed setting of Psalm 150.
