THE idea was brilliant and the pedigree was impeccable. SpinVox boasted of using revolutionary technology to turn phone voice messages into text. And the pair behind the company were members of two of Europe's most famous business families.
But SpinVox is in crisis. Doubts have been cast over its supposedly advanced electronics by the BBC, which said the company depended heavily on an army of employees in call centres in developing countries listening to messages and then typing them out.
Now computer suppliers are threatening to pull the plug on the business. SpinVox employees have contacted Financial Mail to claim that ...
