The baby-boomer generation will have retired by 2020, or should have, but many with valuable experience and skills want to continue work.

The number of people aged 65-plus and still working is expected to double by 2020.

So says Mark Anderson, general manager of AWKinekt Contract House, an exhibitor at this year's Human Resource Development Expo (HRDE) at the Sandton Convention Centre from August 12-14.

A 70-year-old still-working US chairman of a stockbroker says: "I think a lot of people can't afford to retire. You can't do it now for less than $100 000 a year."
