A commitment to classic Italian production makes BelGioioso a firm to watch in the specialty cheese category
There's nothing new at BelGioioso Cheese Co., and that's just the way fourth-generation Italian cheesemaker Errico Auricchio likes it. "We are for doing the same products better and better, and with the right age," he says. When it comes to cheese, "everything is old here. And that's good."
Errico's great-grandfather founded the business near Naples in 1877. Licensing the Auricchio name, Errico brought the company's traditional cheesemaking techniques to America in 1979 and bought out the family's U.S. interest about four years ago.
