Harare City Council has acquired steel and plastic pipes worth more than US$140 000 to rehabilitate water infrastructure on its main line as the city authority moves to arrest perennial water leakages and shortages prevailing in the city.
The pipes were acquired using part of the money that was availed by Government to Harare to improve water supplies and sanitation in the city.
Last month, the Ministry of Finance gave Harare US$17 million to improve water reticulation. The steel pipes worth US$20 000 will be used to replace the old and leaking pipes on the Ganges water line while the new PVC pipes worth US$40 000 will replace ...
