Sweet news from Sweet, 305 Shrewsbury St., Worcester.
Owner/executive pastry chef Alina Eisenhauer, who opened the pastry shop a year ago, has operated Sweet's Dessert Bar (same location) for about six months.
In an herb garden on the roof of the building, Eisenhauer grows five different kinds of basil and several varieties of mint in addition to thyme, oregano, tarragon and lemon verbena. She also has tomato and pepper plants.
The herbs are used in homemade ice cream, focaccia (Italian bread) and fruit desserts. I know I couldn't say no to a scoop of lemon thyme ice cream served ...
