David and Mary Denny are throwbacks to Kenya's golden age - to the time of white hunters and elephant tusks, when Hollywood's biggest stars and British Royalty used to visit the country.

'We lived there in the Fifties for ten years when I worked as a grain buyer,' says David, 78. 'We then came back to Britain but returned to Kenya every year on holiday - the country gets in your blood.'

The couple always stayed on their holidays near Mount Kenya at the famous Mount Kenya Safari Club, which was founded in 1959 by the film star William Holden, and two hell-raising partners, Ray Ryan and Carl Hirschmann.
