Stephen Peak, the veteran Henderson manager who has taken over responsibility for New Star UK Alpha, has increased the risk profile of the GBP156m portfolio in the hope of benefiting from the recovery in UK stocks.
The fund was run by star manager Tim Steer from launch in 2001 until April, when New Star Asset Management was acquired by Henderson Global Investors.
Mr Steer was originally due to remain in charge of the mandate at Henderson, but was poached by Artemis Investment Management in March.
