For 11 months, Frik Nel had to deal with the trauma of viewing corpses and had to fight government bureaucracy as he tried to find the body of his son that a state mortuary had lost.
Late last week, the Nel family were informed that the search for their son Johan was over. A special task team had found the remains, apparently after they had been buried in a cemetery close to Brits in North West.
Frik said he had been told that his son's body had been exhumed in February. The task team, which was appointed by the North West premier, began their search last Sunday, according to Frik.
