Boston building gains Energy Star label
The U.S. EPA has awarded Boston's Prudential Tower with an Energy Star label for superior energy performance.
The 52-story Prudential Tower was built in 1965 and renovated in 1993 and 2008. The Boston Properties-owned building earned the Energy Star as the result of efforts that included upgrading the building automation system, installing demand-side ventilation, installing more energy efficient lighting, replacing the original steam turbine-driven chillers with high-efficiency electric-driven chillers along with numerous other energy efficiency and water conservation measures.
