Edward Wayne Edwards may have thought - and may have convinced others - he had undergone a metamorphosis, but he also couldn't have predicted that science would one day track the one birthmark he could not change: his DNA.
Sunday, Larry Lee, the veteran chief of detectives at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, said the investigation of the 1980 murder of teenage sweethearts Tim Hack and Kelly Drew never went cold. And, said Lee, murder suspect Edwards is a con who could not change his stripes.
