UK-based transmission network operator National Grid has said that it is investing GBP121,500 in improving the gas network in Towcester, UK.

The company has said that the work will begin on August 10, 2009 on a 12-week project to replace and upgrade the old iron gas main along Watling Street (the A5) in Towcester with new plastic pipe, which will last for 80 years if left undisturbed once underground.

Engineers will upgrade 500m of main from Richmond Road to Northampton Road along Watling Street, laying a larger pipe than already exists, to cater for the increased demand for gas in the area.
