DMCI Holdings Inc. of the Consunji group yesterday submitted the highest bid of $361.7 million for the 600-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Calaca, Batangas in an auction yesterday, allowing the company to diversify from coal mining and construction.
DMCI Holdings beat the $280-million offer of Banpu Power Ltd. of Thailand, Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. said. The bid also met the government s minimum price, Conrad Tolentino, the spokesman for the state agency said, without disclosing the price.
