The joyful and rollicking Dane Dances turns 10 years old this month, but the popular event's name still needs some clarifying.
It's not a show featuring dancers, for starters. Instead, fueled by two live bands and a DJ each week, the Dane Dances series creates such bubbly beats that only the flagpoles on the terrace remain stationary.
Whether they play reggae, salsa, Top 40 pop or vintage R&B, regional bands are selected for the ability to get patrons into the groove. Dane Dances director Malika Monger said acts need to be "a large band for the fullness of the sound."
