"Primary liposarcomas of the mediastinum are extremely rare. They have a dramatic clinical course," investigators in Poznan, Poland report (see also Liposarcoma).
"An unusual case of a giant primary liposarcoma of the mediastinum in a 49-year-old female is described. In spite of the tumor size the patient's only symptom was dry cough. Chest X-ray and CT showed a huge mass in the left pleural cavity. A radical procedure was performed with removal of a giant 25 x 31 cm soft fatty tumor. Pathology showed liposarcoma," wrote L. Gasiorowski and colleagues.
