Thousands of South Carolina public school teachers and educators are being trained to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to signs of child sexual abuse (see also Child Sexual Abuse).
The training programs are sponsored by Darkness to Light (D2L), a Charleston-based non-profit dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse through education and public awareness.
D2L has formed a training partnership with the S.C. Department of Education (SCDE). To date, 9,100 state teachers and educators have been through the prevention course, including 50 guidance counselors just this past week. The Charleston County School District launches teacher training in August ...
