According to recent research from Ottawa, Canada, "Inclusion of a biological photosensitizer and prototype of beta-carbolines, norharmane (NHM), into the cavity of cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]) has been investigated for the first time, by using H-1 NMR and UV-visible spectroscopy, and ab initio calculations. Protonated NHM forms a very stable host-guest complex with CB[7] in aqueous solution, with a binding constant of (9.0 +/- A 0.5) x 10(4) M-1."
