Maria, Maria: As a lead singer with the popular world beat band Wild Mango, Venezuelan-born Maria Marquez has garnered Latina diva status during her 15 years performing in the Bay Area. Her strangely enchanting voice, reminiscent of Brazilian jazz singer Flora Purim, captivates a delicate vibrato, unique timbre, and a soulful, melodic whimper.
