"We believe we've solved the problem," says Brad Flatoff, v.p.-marketing, Rondele [R] Foods, a Waterbury Foods Co. Flatoff is referring to the cross-merchandising problem encountered at convenience stores and supermarket in-store bakeries, where because of limited refrigeration space, cream cheese can't always be marketed next to the bagels.
What Merrill, Wis.-based Rondele Foods has clone is introduce an extended shelflife, premium bagel spread formulated to be displayed without refrigeration.
