The Madhvani Group is set to diversify their business empire by investing in a $20 million (Shs44 billion) bio-fuel project but the venture is being delayed by apparent opposition from petroleum companies operating in Uganda.

With over 22 fully operational large-scale companies in the country, which include the Kakira Sugar Works in Jinja, the Madhvanis want to invest in the production of ethanol, the environmentally-friendly bio-fuel, from sugar molasses.
