FAMILIES of 14 elderly people who perished in a care home fire have been offered just pounds 3000 for the lives of their loved ones.

Relatives of the victims of the Rosepark tragedy yesterday blasted the offer from the home's insurers AXA as "derisory".

It is the latest twist in the longrunning scandal which has seen three failed attempts to prosecute the care home's former owners, Thomas Balmer, 62, his 60-year-old wife Anne and their son Alan, 35.
