TO a thirsty drinker, the 119.5 seconds it takes to pour a perfect pint of Guinness are sheer agony. And this year marks 250 years of patience as the world-famous brew celebrates a milestone anniversary.

Founder Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on his small Dublin brewery back in 1759. Ten years later he exported his beer for the first time, when six-and-a-half barrels were shipped to England.
