It is a time to celebrate ideas. Moreover, it is a time to celebrate people with ideas. Writer and film director Tsitsi Dangarembga not only has ideas, she captures her ideas, wrapping them in words and images and sharing them with the world through her award-winning novels and films.
Born in 1959 in Mutoko, Zimbabwe, Tsitsi studied medicine in the UK and psychology at the University of Harare, before moving to Berlin to earn a diploma in film-making at the German Film and Television Academy, and completing her doctoral studies in the Department of African Studies at Humboldt University.
