Playing Olympic-style games on the state Capitol lawn was a fitting end to a Madison Children's Museum program that focused on ancient Greece.
That's because the summer program Togas, Tales and Temples looked at the influence of early Greece on life today. One of the most striking examples in Madison is the architecture of the Capitol, with its soaring columns.
"All around us are still remnants of what the early Greeks" accomplished, said Sandra Bonnici-Hoecherl, museum outreach coordinator and lead teacher of the summer camp.
