Apr. 28--The Delta Queen Steamboat company, which banks heavily on American nostalgia, wants to bring back coastal cruising from Maine to Florida and beyond.
The line, whose American Classic Voyages' parent is chaired by Chicago real estate tycoon Sam Zell, hopes to launch the first of five new vessels in the spring of 2000.
Itineraries for the overnight trips have not been set but could range from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Ore., and include Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. They're also looking at Alaska and the Great Lakes. Ports will be determined by consumer demand and facilities, which the company is ...
