In this article Euromonitor International analyses how two of the world's largest non-store retailers, Amazon and Otto, compete in Internet retailing, and how their global expansion strategies compare. Amazon overtook Otto as the world's largest non-store retailer in 2007 and consolidated its leadership in 2008. The two companies' strategies differ significantly, with Amazon a pure-play Internet retailer whereas Otto relies on a combination of home-shopping and Internet retailing.
