Renee Zaman and her family have spent the last two months instant messaging the Pakistani exchange student scheduled to stay with them for a year. They had his classes picked out at Verona Area High School and a bedroom set up for him. They planned to give him a real American experience: Great America, Noah's Ark, American Players Theatre and a Packers game.
Haider Amin Chaudary, 16, would have arrived at his host family's home in Verona last week, but because of a scandal involving a foreign exchange student program coordinator in Pennsylvania, Chaudary's program has been canceled.
