Storm debris picked up for fraction of FEMA estimate

RUTLAND - Eight months after the December 2008 ice storm, all of the brush in town has been collected, and at a fraction of the original estimated cost.

Department of Public Works Superintendent Gary F. Kellaher reported that the DPW collected 39,000 cubic tons of debris, using rented equipment and DPW personnel. The debris will be removed for free by Boston Bark, once Mr. Kellaher authorizes its removal.
