N.BILLERICA, Mass., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has issued an office action rejecting some of the claims covered by U.S. Patents 5,547,656 and 5,527,521 owned by ImaRx Pharmaceutical Corporation and licensed to DuPont Merck. These patents cover, among other things, low-density, perfluorocarbon gas-filled microspheres used for medical imaging. DuPont Merck and ImaRx fully expect the patents to be found valid and enforceable upon standard re- examination of the patent claims in question.
