SAN JOSE _ Even at a young age, children of different races recognize the effects of stereotyping in entertainment and news and believe it is important to see people of their own race on television, according to a study released Wednesday by an Oakland-based, national children's advocacy group.
The study, touted as the first of its kind, raises significant questions about how the media's portrayal of different ethnic groups _ especially in television programming _ effects childrens' perceptions of reality _ and of themselves.
