DeSoto police jurors tentatively have scheduled a special meeting Aug. 19 about the parish's proposed animal shelter. They decided Monday night to postpone advertising for bids on the project after some said they want to discuss it in more detail.
The animal shelter has been back and forth before jurors since last fall, when it emerged as one of the projects on many DeSoto citizens' wish lists as the Police Jury looked at ways to spend $28.7 million in Haynesville Shale leasing bonus money.
