Minneapolis-based Alliant Techsystems, Inc., will be building lightweight composite parts for the Airbus SAS A350 aircraft out of its Iuka, Miss., facility. The deal is valued at more than $1 billion.
In February, ATK announced a $175 million expansion of the Iuka facility that will create 800 jobs over the next eight years. The facility will produce carbon fiber composite parts and frames, which are used in the skeletons of airplanes. In addition to supplying parts for larger aircraft, ATK will also manufacture smaller parts for smaller aircraft.
