NEW YORK -- While household penetration of wet/dry vacs has reached 30 percent, there is still growth to be had in the category, according to vendors. The category, many suppliers believe, can reach 40 percent household penetration.
Wet/dry vacs are experiencing a trend upwards in price. While the majority of retail sales in the category are done below $79, there's a push in the $79 to $109 price point segment.
Visibility is key in merchandising wet/dry vacs. Stores must make the department a destination for consumers. Cross-merchandising is also key in selling the category.
