THERE is a reason La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the masterpiece of Modernist architecture that is Antoni Gaudi's monument to God and the city he loved, looks a bit of a dog's dinner when you get round the back.
Gaudi was hit by a tram halfway through. He died in hospital three days later, since when at least six architects and several sculptors have had a crack at it, with varying degrees of success.
