Best's Review presents its third annual listing of top global reinsurance brokers with in-depth looks at leading firms' results and strategies. Consolidation is a popular word among reinsurance brokers, with the largest broker of 2007, Aon Re Global, joining forces with the third largest of 2007, Benfield Group Ltd., to create the largest reinsurance broker in 2008, Aon Benfield.
The current calendar year also has been marked by consolidation, with the second-largest broker of last year, Guy Carpenter & Co., snapping up John B. Collins Associates Inc. in an acquisition that closed in the second quarter.
