NEW YORK -- "I feel like I'm in my own home," said Betsey Johnson, surrounded by Oriental rugs, paintings and antique Buddha figurines. "I moved a lot of my stuff from my apartment here."
The contemporary designer was in her new SoHo flagship store at 138 Wooster Street the other day for the opening party, which attracted about 500 of her fans.
Johnson's 2,500-square-foot store, which features yellow English cabbage wallpaper, velvet couches, and a sitting area in the back, reflects her new sophisticated retail strategy. The store opened Feb. 14, but the party wasn't held until last Thursday.
