Bacolod City — The first jatropha processing and research center in Negros Occidental was launched Saturday.Located in the provincial government’s Technology and Livelihood Development Center, the center will serve as a major backbone of the biofuel program in Negros Occidental, biofuel being a viable alternative of fuel, addressing environment issues and providing livelihood opportunities for Negrenses.Negros Occidental province has some 793,000 hectares of land, 500,000 hectares of which is devoted to agriculture, while the remaining areas are either abandoned or underdeveloped, says Provincial Agriculturist, Igmedio Tabianan.Tabianan said jatropha ...
