When we bought our ex-council house six years ago from Leeds council, we had a survey which found no problems. We now have a buyer but their surveyor has discovered asbestos over a passage we share with our neighbour. Why didn't our surveyor spot the asbestos, which is clearly visible, and can we claim against him?
I presume this is white asbestos, produced in sheets and very common roofing material in the Sixties and Seventies, not the much more dangerous blue and brown asbestos, commonly used in pipe lagging.
