NOTTINGHAM, United Kingdom--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1998--The Nottinghamshire Police is the first police force in England and Wales to go online with the world's most advanced automated fingerprint identification system, known in the United Kingdom as the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS).
Designed and installed by TRW Inc. (NYSE:TRW) under contract to the United Kingdom's Police Information Technology Organization, this unique information technology system will eventually link all 43 police forces in England and Wales to a database of up to 6 million 10-print sets and 2 million latent crime scene prints.
