May 14--Schneiderman's Furniture is the main industry in the Elmer Township-Meadowlands area, employing about 50 people in its store, administrative headquarters, warehouse and other business components.
The whole surrounding population is only about 222 people: about 100 in Elmer Township and 122 in the city of Meadowlands.
"Schneiderman's is our big employer here," said Meadowlands Mayor Ann Taray. "It's really been such a major part of our economy here for so many years I don't know what it would be like without them."
