Waukesha-based businessman Scott Acker admits he was warned about trying to get a quick approval from the city of Madison for a giant new restaurant and sports bar inside University Square.
"Now I know what everybody meant," says Acker, who is pursuing a $4 million, three-floor development inside the mixed-use complex at the corner of West Johnson and Lake streets. It would include the Badger Hall of Fame Grill, a restaurant, banquet hall and bar with a 900-person capacity.
Acker, who owns the Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant in Middleton, took the proposal to the city's Alcohol License Review Committee in June. His application ...
