With one day remaining, Chad Griffin of Cresson, Texas, widened his lead in the Ramada Champion's Choice bass fishing tournament on Oneida Lake.
Griffin, 32, a self-sponsored pro who last year was working in a bakery in Louisiana, has a commanding 4-pound, 4-ounce lead over his nearest competitor -- Greg Hackney of Gonzales, La. Jeff Kriet, of Ardmore, Okla. is in third.
Griffin's 16-pound, 5-ounce bag was the best of the day. All five fish were smallmouths he caught on a topwater lure. He now has a three-day total of 50 pounds in this Bassmaster Elite Series competition, which offers a $100,000 winner's ...
