ING (ING.AS) said on Monday it had wrapped up fundraising for its infrastructure fund without meeting its 1 billion euro target as appetite for projects exposed to market demand diminishes.

ING said it had closed its European Infrastructure Fund (EIF) early due to due to lack of sufficient investor interest.

"It is regrettable and disappointing that we have to close the marketing of the EIF, especially for the team who have worked so hard towards its launch," an ING spokeswoman said, following a report in the The Independent on Sunday.
