Thomas Downey Coolican, 81, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2009. Tom was a communicant of and past lector at St. Charles Borromeo Church, as well as past lector for the Mass for Shut-ins. He was predeceased by his parents, James J. and Margaret D. Coolican, and his beloved brother and sisters, James J. "Bud" Coolican Jr., Monne Paltz and Dorothy Flood.
Tom was a 1946 graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School. He served as a reporter, covering the police, federal courthouse and hotel beats, prior to becoming the radio and television editor of the Syracuse Herald-Journal ...
