Parallel Worlds
Aerodynamicists call our atmosphere an "ocean of air." Both air and water are fluids (they flow). Both can exert fluid pressure. (Ever feel water pressure near the bottom of a pool, or air pressure when you fly in a plane?)
Over millions of years, birds evolved ways of flying through the air (a big advantage for hunting and escaping from predators). In what scientists call parallel evolution--similar circumstances occurring in different animals--sharks evolved the ability to fly through water.
Do all fish fly through water? No way. To see why, try these experiments.
