Fairgrounds in running for recreation complex
Mississauga, Ontario-based Northbrook Development Group is looking at both the Michigan State Fairgrounds and a former Visteon Corp. plant in Shelby Township as the location for a massive youth recreational complex with indoor and outdoor playing fields.
Making its proposal to the Michigan State Fair & Exposition Center Authority Board last week, Northbrook said it had already visited the former Visteon plant now a part of Automotive Component Holdings L.L.C., a temporary business set up by Ford Motor Co. in 2005 to protect critical parts production as it prepared the former Visteon business units for sale.
